Beth Stutzmann

Dr. Beth Stutzmann, is the Director of Bands at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia where she received the Outstanding Faculty Award in 2011. She is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory of Music (BMEd); earned a master's degree from Oklahoma City University in Horn performance and was awarded her Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Education degree from Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA.

Holding music educator certifications (PreK-9 & 5-12) in two states, Dr. Stutzmann has taught general music; choral music and instrumental music in public and private schools. She teaches music theory; music appreciation courses and has directed instrumental ensembles at the college and university levels.

Dr. Stutzmann is involved in the multidisciplinary research study in the Research Learning Community (RLC) at her University.

• Correspondence must have proper etiquette.
• Please address me as Dr. or Professor Stutzmann.
• Assignments will not be accepted late. A grade of “0” will be recorded.
• All work passed in to the professor must be type-written and have one-inch margins only.
• Make-up exams or incomplete grades will only be given for dire emergencies (death in the family; hospitalization; something that provides legal documentation).
• Do not come to class late. Doors will be locked to prevent disrupting the lecture.
• Etiquette and respect are expected at all times. Class disruptions will not be tolerated.
• Bullying the Teacher for a grade will not be tolerated and will automatically result in a failing grade for the semester.
• Promptness to class, completion of weekly assigned readings and homework assignments, and insightful and creative class discussion are expected and will affect final grade for the course.
• Use of correct punctuation, grammar and syntax are expected in written assignments and errors will result in points being subtracted from the grade.
• If you did poorly on your tests, do not email me at the end of the semester and question your grade.
• Cell phones must be turned off. Text messaging and cell phone use during class time is prohibited.
• Baseball hats cannot be worn during quizzes/exams.
• Cellphones/electronics must be put away and out of sight during quizzes & exams. Headphones may not be worn during class.
• Teacher reserves the right to make changes to the syllabus
• TEACHER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO ADJUST GRADE ACCORDINGLY WITH REGARD TO THE STUDENT'S PARTICIPATION AND ATTITUDE THROUGHOUT THE SEMESTER.
